Just a short post on this day of Thanksgiving and joy. I never want to lose sight of the many things I have to be thankful for.
Some of the things that I’m thankful for:
I’m thankful for Jesus. My Jesus. The Only One who chose with everything He had to die in my place on the cross and then raise again so that I can become who I am called to be: a powerful son of God.
I’m thankful for my friends both near and far who have shaped my lifetime. The ones who I’ve made mistakes with, and the ones who lifted me up from my mistakes and showed me who Jesus is and who I am destined to be. It is because of my friends that I know the love of Jesus in more than just a superficial, feel-good way–I know love that mends broken hearts.
I’m thankful for my God, the God of justice, and the God who is standing with open arms to receive me, a redeemed man. What kind of God dares to love me back out from my sin, or to love me even when I was His enemy? A God who is more powerful than words and yet a God who breathes His breath of Life into creation so that it can reflect His tender heart.
I’m thankful for my family who I can turn to at anytime and know I am safe. A family that has often been forgotten about by the world and one that has sometimes been forgotten about by me, and yet still is the place that wants to be safety for me. God has given me such a wonderful family that loves Him and lives for Him, and in doing that, is able to love and help the people around them. They are the best thing about me.
I’m thankful for the breath in my lungs, something that I never want to take for granted and yet, something that I do take for granted. They say dying is easy and living is the hard part, I want to embrace that motto. May I value every breath I’m given because it is God’s love that is giving me the opportunity to live life to the max in each of those moments.
What are you thankful for?
